Jesus 1Jesus 2

He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman.
He grew up in another village, where he worked in a carpenter’s shop until he was thirty.
For three years he went around preaching and working miracles.
Lepers, prostitutes and tax collectors loved him.
Religious people often hated him.
He never wrote a book.
He never held office.
He never had a family or owned a house.
He never travelled more than a few hundred miles from the place where he was born.
He did none of the things one usually associates with greatness.
He had no credentials but himself.
He was only thirty three when public opinion turned against him.
His friends ran away.
He was turned over to his enemies and went through a mockery of a trial.
He was nailed to a cross between two thieves.
While he was dying, his executioners gambled for his clothing, the only property he had on earth.
When he was dead, he was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.

Nearly two thousand years have passed since these events.
Nealy two thousand years, and yet people are still talking about this man.
People are still talking about Jesus Christ.

Jesus 3Jesus 4

Why are we still talking about him?
We are doing so because the story didn’t end in the borrowed grave.
Jesus rose from the dead, ascended to heaven and is alive today and changing lives.

The story didn’t end two thousand years ago – it’s continuing today.

At Canon Street you can find people who are part of the story.
People who know what it is to have their lives changed by Jesus.
People who have experienced forgiveness.
People who have experienced healing – healing of body, mind, soul and spirit.
People who once wanted to die because life was hopeless, but who now know real joy.
